Calcium Fluoride

Molecular formula: CaF2          Molecular weight: 78.07
Uses: in producing hydrofluoric acid. Pure product can be used as catalyst of dehydration and dehydrogenation reactions. Smelting flux. Optical glass. Polishing paste of electronic materials.
Properties:  White powder or cubic crystal. Soluble in concentrated inorganic acid and gives off hydrogen fluoride, slightly soluble in dilute inorganic acid, almost insoluble in water. Relative density is 3.18, melting point is 1402℃, boiling point is 2500℃. Median lethal dose (rat, per os) is 2775mg/kg.
